William Holt Obituary

In loving memory of William Holt, affectionately known as "Sonny," who entered this world on December 13, 1943, in Atlanta, GA, to proud parents Alex Clayton Holt and Virginia Walls. From his early days, Sonny brought joy and laughter to his family, earning the endearing nickname "Sonny" as a baby, weighing a robust 10 pounds. As the baby of the family, he delighted in the love and companionship of his parents and siblings.

As a child, Sonny embraced the adventures shared with his siblings. He gleaned valuable life lessons from watching his brothers getting into trouble and learned what not to do. During his teenage years, Sonny discovered his passion for tennis and committed to his faith as a Christian.

After graduating from high school, Sonny served his country in the Navy as a corpsman. Following his honorable service, he pursued higher education at Emory University, earning a degree as a Respiratory Therapist. In 1971, Sonny exchanged vows with Jan, welcoming their beloved daughter, Stephanie, into the world in July 1975.

Throughout his life, Sonny found joy in the simple pleasures of golfing and traveling. He met many famous wrestlers and musicians, including wrestler Andre the Giant, wrestler actor in “The Princess Bride”, and musicians Tim Woods, Lee Greenwood, and Whitman Mayo, known for his role as "Grady" on "Sanford and Son."

Sonny is preceded in death by his loving parents, Alex Clayton Holt and Virginia Walls, and his brothers, Joe, Buddy, and Johnny, as well as former spouses Jan and Thea.

He is survived by his devoted sister, Jacki, nieces Ginger, Becky, Heidi, Marie, nephews, Benny, Mike, Striblin, and Mike Thrasher and other nieces, nephews, former spouse Dee, children Stephanie, grandchildren Nathan and Andrea, and great-grandchildren Emma, Kali, and Kira. Sonny's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.
